Mark Hocker was sworn into today as Lubbock County Judge #1. Hocker has already announced a campaign for the position, which will come up in this year’s election. He was chosen by County Commissioners to fill the position temporarily after the death of Judge Rusty Ladd last year.

His current term expires this December. Voters will decide if he reclaims the position for 2013. He's running against Scott Morris and Douglas Freitag. Hocker has lived in Lubbock for 16 years, and beat 15 other candidates in the Commissioners Court decision making process.
