Man Robs Bank for $1 To Get Health Care in Prison

Is it really possible to get health care for $1?  Apparently you can if you rob a bank.

59-year-old Richard James Verone of North Carolina allegedly robbed a bank for $1 so he could get free health care in prison. The man reportedly handed the teller a note demanding money and claiming he had a weapon. He then took a seat and waited for the police to arrive and arrest him.

According to Verone, he determined that by stealing from a bank, he would get the three years in prison he needed in order to treat his numerous health issues. He allegedly has a growth in his chest, two ruptured disks, and no job.

Unfortunately for him, the charges of larceny brought against him would only get him 12 months at the most. But no worries, I'm sure he can figure out another way to land himself in jail.
