Fabrizio Stabile died of a very rare amoeba-related disease after swimming in a central Texas wave pool, according to NJ.com.

The amoeba Naegleria fowleri, upon entering the nasal cavity, can travel to the brain where it "eats" until the patient is either diagnosed properly or dies. However, since the disease is rare, misdiagnosis is likely - a fact that Fabrizo's family seeks to change by raising funds for awareness efforts.

The Waco, Texas water park, BSR Cable Park, closed temporarily while the CDC conducted an investigation. The owner "said he will comply with further requests," although the park is now closed for the winter season.

If you would like to donate to The Fabrizio Stabile Foundation for Naegleria Fowleri Awareness, you can do so at the family's GoFundMe page.
