Lubbock’s Crafthouse Gastropub Will Not Reopen
It's official, one of Lubbock's favorite restaurants will not be reopening as was originally planned.
The Crafthouse Gastropub that was once located on 34th Street will not be reopening, despite posting in November that they were closing and looking for a new place.
I'm going to miss Crafthouse. While the restaurant wasn't in my normal rotation of places to go, it was always a nice change of pace when I went. They would change up the menu from season to season, but would still keep some of the must-have entrees.
It was announced in November 2021 that the Crafthouse Gastropub would be moving to a new location. At the time, Crafthouse was going to move to 1715 Buddy Holly Avenue next door to Juxtaposh and were set to open in early 2022. On March 18th, Crafthouse announced on Facebook that they were waiting for their new location to be ready and would use use a Co-op Kitchen to deliver lunch. They called the lunch service Lunch Break by Crafthouse. They even recently hosted a wine and dinner evening.
On Thursday, however, the owners officially said Crafthouse Gastropub would not reopen. For now, they will continue the Lunch Break.
We aren't sure what the future holds for the owner's of Crafthouse Gastropub, but I imagine we aren't done hearing about a new venture from the family at some point down the road. The last few years have really hit so many local restaurants hard. It's obvious that not all places are out of the woods just yet.
