According to Texas Monthly, two Lubbock taco places stand supreme. But I'm not sure they tried everything, so expect my two cents.

Best Carne Asada: Cancun (7905 University Ave)

While I agree that Cancun is delicious, period, I personally recommend the Seafood Molcajete as the best dish on the menu. It comes out piping hot with plenty food for two people. Add a pitcher of house margaritas and you have an incredible experience. But be safe, those margs pack a punch.

Best Al Pastor: Taqueria Jalisco (221 Ave Q)

Taqueria Jalisco is a Lubbock tradition. Countless hungover college kids have been miraculously healed there, and the family friendly environment means anyone can be comfortable there. My personal recommendation is the Queso con Chorizo

What Texas Monthly Missed:

Raspados Colima (2203 Clovis Rd)

This amazing, affordable slice of heaven keeps really weird hours, so check before you go. I always order their Al Pastor, along with a Corn Cup, Aqua Fresca and entirely too much other food because it's so incredibly good.

Raider Burrito (2102 19th St)

Open very late on weekend nights, there's no going wrong with any meat choice on these tacos, although I always get at least one Carnitas.

Taqueria Autlan (2722 50th)

An extensive menu inside, including sentimental favorites of mine like Carne Asada fries, and a delicious street taco set up outside at night. The salsa bar is the best in town.

I'm sure I'm missing more amazing places, and it's my life's mission to try them all!
