Lubbock Teenager Seriously Injured in Apparent Car Surfing Accident Monday Evening

An 18-year-old male is in the hospital after an accident on Monday.

Preliminary reports say a teenager was hanging on the back of an SUV when he fell off and was injured at 112^th Street and Chicago Avenue.

Passengers of the SUV are said to have stayed with the 18-year-old while the driver went for help. At around 7:40 p.m., police arrived at the scene and the 18-year-old was taken to Covenant Medical Center with serious injuries.

Lubbock Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the accident.
