15-Year-Old Run Over, Killed in Central Lubbock Car Accident
A Lubbock teenager was run over by a pickup truck and pronounced dead after allegedly hanging off of the side.
Lubbock Teen Fatal Car Accident
According to a recent press release from the Lubbock Police Department (LPD), officers were called to the 5100 block of Avenue W at 3:51 p.m. on Saturday after reports were made of a car accident with injuries.
When officers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy with serious injuries. The juvenile was transported to University Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing, but it was apparent to police that the 15-year-old was riding on the running board—the mounted step beneath tall SUVs and pickup trucks—as the truck was accelerating. At one point, the teen slipped and fell under the truck's tires as it was moving.
Lubbock Golf Cart Accident
This fatal accident comes just days after 18-year-old Jonathan Garcia died after falling out of a moving golf cart.
When LPD arrived on the scene on April 23, they found Garcia who was suffering serious injuries. He was rushed to University Medical Center but later died.
Investigators learned that as the golf cart was turning on to 2nd Street, Garcia was ejected from his seat. The driver and a second passenger were not injured.
