Teenager With A Gun Arrested Outside of a School in Lubbock

Lubbock Police and Lubbock Independent School District officials are responding to an incident that official's say took place outside of a High School in Lubbock. The incident led to the arrest of one person.

Teenager Armed with Gun Arrested

According to Lubbock Police and Lubbock ISD officials, Therron Hastings Jr. was arrested on Monday morning outside of Estacado High School.

According to KAMC, Lubbock ISD Police claim that Hastings was arrested after allegedly pointing a handgun at another student just after 8:00 a.m.

It has not been made clear whether Hastings is a student or not.

Lubbock ISD Reaches Out to Parents

Following the incident at Lubbock Estacado High School, parents of students at the school.

Campus police were made aware today that a suspect had a weapon on the Estacado HS parking lot before the start of school. The suspect and weapon are in custody by the Lubbock ISD Police Department. All students and staff are safe. Lubbock ISD has a zero-tolerance policy for any type of weapon on school grounds. This is an ongoing investigation by our Lubbock ISD Police Department. Additional officers will be present at the campus throughout the remainder of the day. The school day will proceed with the regular bell schedule.

Therron Hastings Jr. Faces Multiple Charges

18-year-old Therron Hastings Jr is currently in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. He faces multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of exhibiting a firearm on campus and one count of unlawfully carrying a firearm in a prohibited area.
