A Lubbock Police Officer was involved in a collision at around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning.

The officer notified dispatch that he'd been in a collision with an SUV in the 6300 block of 19th Street.

The officer, driving a marked LPD pickup truck, was traveling westbound on 19th Street. A 21-year-old male, driving a Chevy Tahoe, attempted to pull out of a business driveway on the north side of 19th.

As the Tahoe turned left on 19th across the westbound lanes, he struck the LPD pickup. The officer had minor injuries and was taken to University Medical Center by another officer.

The 21-year-old male refused treatment by paramedics and was written a citation for failure to yield the right of way.
