Flower Picking, Donkey Rides, and Other Surprising Things Banned At Lubbock City Parks
As the weather gets warmer and schools around the South Plains begin to wrap up, more and more families will head out to one of Lubbock's many city parks. And Lubbock has many great parks for families to enjoy.
When you head out to one of Lubbock's many parks you may be surprised to learn that there are actually many rules and regulations at parks. Including activities that are banned.
These Activities Are Banned At Lubbock Parks
Lubbock actually has many different rules. From things like, no parking on the grass to no swimming or taking a bath in the water. And some of the rules are actually a little surprising. For example, it is against Lubbock rules to, "remove any tree, shrub, bush or plant, or injure the bark, or pick the flowers or seeds of any tree or plant, or attach any rope, wire or other contrivance to any tree, shrub, bush or plant, or dig in or otherwise disturb grass areas, or in any other way injure or impair the natural beauty or usefulness of any area".
In other words, don't disturb nature, which makes sense, but no picking of flowers? That's interesting. A fun game of football is fun, but sanctioned games are banned. You also aren't allowed to operate a metal detector in a Lubbock park. Which is fine, because digging is also banned.
And of course alcohol is banned as well, unless you have a permit.
You Can't Ride a Horse or a Donkey In a Lubbock Park
Another rule? No mule or donkey rides. According to the City of Lubbock, "To ride, lead or drive any horse, mule, donkey or other equine animal over or through any park within the city except upon grounds set apart and designated as grounds therefor."
