Lubbock Man Jailed for Deadly Hit and Run Accident

A man responsible for a deadly hit-and-run has been arrested. 25-year-old Samuel Ortega has been charged with the death of 34-year-old Jose Trejo on July 28^th of this year.

Trejo and his wife were on his motorcycle when they were hit by a pickup truck that fled the scene. Ortega has been charged with two counts of failure to stop and render aid.

Lubbock authorities say tips from the community are to thank for Ortega’s arrest. He is behind bars under a $50,000 bond.
