A birthday party in Lubbock turned into a blood-stained crime scene after a man wounded two people with a machete.

According to the Lubbock Police Department, the attack happened after midnight Saturday morning (Sept. 24). Officers were called to The Landing at Pinewood Park Apartments on Slide Road after two people at a birthday party were hurt in a stabbing attack.

Police say that one of the victims and the suspect were attending a birthday party at the apartment complex and started arguing. The victim went inside an apartment, and the suspect went to his vehicle, retrieved a machete and returned to the apartment to confront the man.

During the confrontation, the suspect attacked the victim with the machete. The birthday party's host attempted to stop the attack and was injured in the process.

Both victims -- 27-year-old Anthony Riviera and 31-year-old Anthony Calderon -- were taken to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspect fled the apartment complex after the attack. He has yet to be located, and police haven't released his identity.
