Severe weather once again came to life in the afternoon hours on the South Plains and many in Lubbock and Shallowater got a bit of a surprise in the sky. A funnel cloud.

At roughly 4pm, citizens and storm spotters saw the funnel cloud south of Shallowater just hanging down from the sky. Of course this sent citizens in two different directions. While some were worried about the funnel cloud in the sky, others jumped at the chance to take pictures and post on social media.

Let's face it, that just how we do things in Texas. We have to look at the possible tornado before running to safety at the last minute. I should point out that due to safety reasons, you should not stay outside and take pictures of tornados.

The folks at the West Texas Mesonet posted a few pictures on Facebook.

The Funnel Cloud Over Lubbock Turned Out To Be Not A Big Deal

While it was a funnel cloud over the Lubbock area on Wednesday, it wasn't a real funnel cloud. According to Ron Roberts on Facebook what citizens saw on Wednesday was a cold air funnel or landspout.

According to KAMC, there is a chance of rain on Thursday but as of this writing, chances of severe weather are not as high as we have seen recently.
