We are still in the dog days of summer and while kids are preparing to head back to school soon, the temperatures do not feel like back to school time of year temperatures. At least not this week.

Extremely hot weather is headed for Lubbock and the rest of West Texas, and for the rest of the state, it's going to be really hot as well.

Triple Digit Heat Set For Lubbock

Most of this summer hasn't been too bad when it comes to 100 plus degree days. We haven't had many. But starting Wednesday, high temperatures in and around Lubbock will soar over 100 degrees for multiple days.

High temperatures will be above 100 degrees through at least Saturday with temperatures reaching around 103 possibly on Thursday and Friday. Sunday's high as of right now will be around 97 degrees.

A "Cool Down" Is Coming

As of today, high temperatures on Monday, August 11 will be around 93 degrees. High temperatures the first week of school for many Lubbock-area students will be in the middle to upper 90's it appears as of right now.

During extremely hot weather be sure to drink plenty of water and stay in the shade and out of the sun as much as possible.
