Lubbock Fire Ends in Man’s Death

Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to a house fire in the 5600 Block of 8th Street at around 10:15 p.m. Friday.

Initial reports stated that a person was potentially trapped inside the garage, and it was later confirmed that a man died in the fire. The single family residence received damage to about 80% of the structure.

A witness on scene helped rescue a woman and child from the home. Red Cross was called to aid a woman, two children and an infant.

The fire has been classified as accidental, but the cause has yet to be released.
