Three Arrested Following Meth, Fentanyl Bust at Lubbock’s Executive Inn
A Lubbock SWAT raid led to the arrest of three individuals after they were caught with several forms of illegal drugs, as well as a handgun, inside of a room at Executive Inn.
Executive Inn Meth Bust
On April 22, a large presence of law enforcement was spotted outside of Executive Inn at 7:45 p.m. In addition to Lubbock SWAT, the Texas Department of Public Safety was also on the scene, according to Everything Lubbock.
It was later discovered that the heavy police presence was in response to three individuals inside of a room believed to have illegal narcotics with them. Once a search warrant was obtained, SWAT entered the room and confirmed their beliefs.
Crystal Meth Found in Executive Inn Room
Lying on the bed was 34-year-old Markquis Tates next to a nightstand. There was a safe located on the nightstand that, after police were able to open, contained a firearm belonging to Tates and a plastic bag with four blue pills. Each pill had an "M" on one side and a "30" on the other.
The pills were believed to have been a common form of fentanyl.
A clear plastic bag containing white crystals was also found in the hotel room, and when police searched the bathroom, they noticed a second bag, opened, next to the toilet bowl. Officers noted that the toilet's water was running as if it was recently flushed as well.
Three Arrested for Drug Possession and Evading Arrest
Tates, along with 36-year-old Valerie Torres and 42-year-old Joe Ramirez were all arrested and transported to the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Torres was charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance and one count of tampering with evidence. She is held on a $13,000 bond. Tates, also on a $13,000 bond, was charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm as a felon. Ramirez received one charge of evading arrest and another for resisting arrest. His bond is set at $4,001.
