A candidate for Lubbock City Council has received an endorsement from a local education association.

The Lubbock Educators Association has endorsed Maurice Stanley, who is a candidate for the District Three seat, being vacated by Councilman Todd Klein.

The organization said that they chose to endorse Stanley because of his commitment to infrastructure, utilities, and safety, according to a press release from the Stanley Campaign.

“As a supporter of the 2010 Lubbock ISD Bond and the 34th Street Association, Mr. Stanley has shown he understands the need to balance growth with maintaining the resources we already have,” said David Ring, president of the Lubbock Educators Association.

Stanley, a Lubbock barber, said “The best return on investment we can make in our city is to keep our schools and neighborhoods strong.”

“Education is the key to advancing goals for our city’s future,” Stanley continued. “I appreciate the Lubbock Educators Association and their investment in our city’s greatest asset: our children whom they teach and mentor.”
