Lubbock County Commissioners Designate ARPA Funding

Monday morning, November 15th, Lubbock County Commissioners made progress in designating $60.3 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding.

EverythingLubbock reports the current plan left $1.8 million unassigned. Of the $58.5 million currently allocated, $10 million is being used for a medical examiner’s building, $7 million is for repairs on McMillan Dam at Buffalo Springs Lake, $5 million is for small business assistance, and just over $2 million is for various volunteer fire department needs.

The Lubbock County Commissioners will meet with the Lubbock City Council on Wednesday, November 17th, to collaborate on aid, particularly in small business assistance.

The National Association of Counties (NACO) released country-wide funding amounts for states and even down to the county. Here are the South Plains funding allocations;

The ARPA funding comes from a $1.9 trillion bill passed to help state and local governments, as well as small businesses, with the continued impact of COVID-19.
