Lubbock Cooper Grad Loses Battle With Pancreatic Cancer

Wednesday, 21-year-old Lubbock Cooper graduate Gabriel Portillo passed away after a four-month long battle with pancreatic cancer.

Just days before Christmas in 2015, Portillo was given one week to live as the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes.

The 21 year old battled long beyond the doctor’s expectations, but succumbed to the illness on Wednesday surrounded by family in their Lubbock home.

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Portillo's family seeking donations to aid in the payment of medical bills and impending funeral expenses.
