
Lt. Governor David Dewhurst Tries to Anwswer Question About Amnesty
On Lubbock’s First News on KFYO, Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst, who is a candidate for the U.S. Senate, was asked about illegal immigrants who are in this country.
Question: "What would you do. Would you send
them back?"
Answer: “It’s actually not practical."
Then there was this exchange, presented here unedited.
Question: "You say it’s not practical to send the…the illegal aliens back. Isn’t that amnesty?"
A: "No, no, no, no. I mean...we’ve got to uh…people that have broken the law…they’ve broken the law…but um…there isn’t…there isn’t…I don’t know of a way to round…I mean…to round up 12 million people…uh you’re …you’re not…we’ve got to be able to…the most important thing…we’ve got to stop this, and then we’ve got to secure the border. And I am not in favor of amnesty. Never have been, never will."
