Just in time for it to warm up and be nice outside, the 8th KidsFish event will happen this Saturday, April 24th, from 7:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maxey Park. KidsFish is sponsored in part by the Lubbock Lions Club and Cabela's.

KidsFish is a free event and no, kids do not need to have a fishing license in order to participate. Those wanting to attend can register for free at the KidsFish website.

According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, KidsFish is a fun opportunity for kids of all ages to learn how to fish and the lake will be stocked with plenty of channel catfish.

The event is free. Parents and guardians will enjoy this fun fishing event with their kids. No fishing license is required for youth or adults who are participating in this event. The lake at Maxey Park will be stocked with Catfish provided by funding from the Texas Game Warden Association to ensure there will be plenty of opportunities for the children to be able to catch a fish. Children of all ages and all abilities are invited. There is a wheelchair accessible fishing area and playground. Lunch will be available at 11:00 a.m.

Those who participate on Saturday should bring their own fishing poles and tackle. There will be only a limited number of poles that can be lent out. Families are also encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, sunscreen, and other items to make you comfortable.

Those who fish can keep what they catch with a limit of 5 fish. Get more details on the KidsFish website.
