The misconduct trial for a local attorney began Monday.

Lubbock lawyer Kevin Glasheen has been accused of professional misconduct by the State Bar of Texas. The State Bar says that Glasheen charged illegal and unconscionable fees to ex-inmates that he helped get increased state compensation.

Glasheen’s contingency fee was 25 percent. He was one of the main forces which helped to increase the state’s compensation of those that are wrongly convicted. Glasheen claims that his fees were appropriate.

If misconduct on Glasheen’s part is found by the court, he could face an array of punishments ranging from public reprimand to disbarment.
