Wednesday on The Chad Hasty Show, Lubbock City Council member Karen Gibson joined Chad in the KFYO studio to discuss the issue of "local control" and S.B.2, which is currently in the 85th Texas Legislature.

Gibson and Hasty also talked about unfunded mandates from the state, progress on Lubbock's "Outer Loop", and the future of the Baseball Hall of Fame in Lubbock.

S.B.2, which specifies the size of property tax increases that would automatically trigger an election for voter approval, is opposed by both Lubbock Mayor Dan Pope and City Manager Jarrett Atkinson. When asked about their opposition, Gibson said,

I respectfully disagree with them. And certainly I want to say I'm not adversarial with either one of them on this subject at all. I just disagree with how they feel about it.

"My opinion is, it's the taxpayers money. This is not our money," continued Gibson.
