Lubbock County Judge Reduces James Holland’s $2 Million Bail
A Lubbock County man charged with continuous sexual assault of a child has had his bail reduced by a State District Court Judge Tuesday.
James Holland's $2 million bond has been reduced to $1 million, reports Everything Lubbock. The decision by Lubbock County District Judge Trey McClendon comes after Holland's attorney argued in court that the $2 million bond was excessive and violated his client's constitutional rights.
Holland was arrested March 10 and charged with sexually assaulting an underage girl related to slain Idalou teenager Holli Jeffcoat. Jeffcoat was Mr. Holland's stepdaughter.
Should Holland post bail, he could be required to stay a minimum of 1,500 feet away from children 17 and younger, be confined inside his home between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. and be tested for drugs once a week.
Holland was named by Holli Jeffcoat as the man who had sexually assaulted and impregnated her just days before she was found stabbed to death inside her home in February.
Holland has not been indicted for any crimes against Holli Jeffcoat as of now. His wife, Debi Holland, was arrested in April and charged with continued sexual assault of a child for her role in facilitating Mr. Holland's alleged crime.
