Unveiling the Most Notorious Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs in Texas
There's cartels and street gangs and then there's outlaw motorcycle gangs. And Texas has their fair share of them all.
There are a slew of motorcycle clubs in Texas that simply consist of motorcycle enthusiasts who have banded together over a shared love of bikes. But like many things, there has been a rise of a particular subculture: one-percenter motorcycle clubs.
What's a 1% Motorcycle Club?
The term was coined by the American Motorcycle Association in 1947. There was a rally in Hollister, California and brawls broke out. The organization afterwards stated: “99% of the motorcycling public are law-abiding; there are 1% who are not.”
Talk about being called out.
Is That the Same As 'Outlaw' Motorcycle Gang?
This is where it starts to split hairs.
According to this website i stumbled across, the term 'outlaw motorcycle club' doesn't necessarily mean they're hooligans.
"However, being an outlaw MC does not immediately mean that the members are out to break the law, it simply means that they do not answer to anybody but themselves when it comes to their motorcycle, their brothers, and their club"
Makes sense. However....The Criminal Division of the US Department of Justice begs to differ.
Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs (OMGs) are organizations whose members use their motorcycle clubs as conduits for criminal enterprises....members engage in criminal activities such as violent crime, weapons trafficking, and drug trafficking.
A little bit of Hog Wild and a little bit of Sons of Anarchy, in sum.
There's supposedly over 300 active outlaw biker gangs active in the nation and the feds list the Hells Angels, Mongols, Bandidos, Outlaws, and Sons of Silence as their major concerns.
But Here's the Ones You Can Find in Texas
Below is a list of the 1% and Outlaw Motorcycle Gangs with established chapters in the Lone Star State. The biggest ones were actually started up right here on our turf, which is interesting if you consider our individualistic, 'roughing-it', traits as a culture here in Texas.
