The Family Of A Lubbock Hit And Run Victim Needs Our Help
These are the stories that just break your heart, but also pull the community together.
On Friday Night March 24th, 20-year-old Keyanna English-King was walking along 19th Street in far west Lubbock, when she was tragically struck and killed. Reports indicate that she was walking on the south side of 19th, near Kelsey Avenue at around 11:30 Friday night, when she was hit by an SUV, which fled the scene. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, but Keyanna was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say that the SUV and the driver have been located and identified, however no arrests have been made at this time.
Obviously, when a tragedy of this magnitude occurs, it becomes an incredible burden family and friends in an emotional, and financial way. As a result, Keyanna's family has started a GoFundMe page to raise money to help defray the costs of laying her to rest. Keyanna's sister, Alize Wright is the organizer, and posted this on the GoFundMe site:
"Family & friends im sorry we have to come together this way but i have to put my pride and ego behind me because i am needing your help putting my sister to rest. She was such a sweet innocent ambitous girl her heart was made of gold so goofy we never had a dull moment and if we did we would laugh about it the next day lol i know she wants a beautiful service and she deserves it. Anything will help!"
The page has a goal of $5000, and as of Tuesday Morning, had raised just over $1000. If you would like to contribute, you can find the page here.
