Popcorn lovers of Lubbock, it’s time to grab your wildest, most ridiculous buckets because Cinemark Theatres is pulling out all the stops for National Popcorn Day on January 19th. For just $5, you can bring in your own bucket and have it filled to the brim with that golden, buttery goodness. This is not a drill!

But before you go dusting off that kiddie pool or giant Home Depot bucket, let’s go over the fine print. First, your bucket must be clean and sanitized—nobody wants old crumbs mixed in with their fresh popcorn. Second, your bucket can’t exceed 400 ounces. If you’re wondering, that’s about the size of two extra-large popcorn tubs or roughly three gallons of popcorn. So while you might not be able to roll in with a trash can or a full-sized storage bin, it’s still a hefty amount for just five bucks!

The rules also say Cinemark staff can deny your bucket if it’s not deemed safe or suitable for use. So play it smart—show up with something fun and creative, but don’t get yourself kicked out for showing up with a giant Hefty bag! (yes, I know you thought about it--because I did too.).

This promotion is part of Cinemark’s celebration of National Popcorn Day, and it’s happening one day only. Whether you’re catching a new release or just stopping by for a snack, this deal is an absolute steal.

The Hub City has TWO Cinemark locations:

CORRECTION! The Premier location is NOT participating in this promotion (which is a bummer since it's the best theater in town.)

Lubbock, we know you’re a creative crew—what’s the craziest container you can come up with? Let us know, and maybe we’ll see you there rocking a popcorn-filled cowboy hat!

If you could bring back one restaurant or biz that closed in Lubbock, what would it be?
