Certain parts of Lubbock have had to make the switch from using shared dumpsters to dispose of their trash, to individual bins that you must put on the curb twice a week.

There are pros and cons to both methods, and only a small amount of Lubbock homeowners are using this bin method compared to the more common dumpsters.

The dumpsters are shared, so you have to deal with overflow if you and your neighbors overfill it before trash day, but you can easily dispose of larger items like big boxes. The smaller bins are handy because you can put them wherever you want on your property for easy access, but you have to remember to put them on the curb for trash day or they won’t be emptied.

Another problem some people are facing with the bins is that they can get a build-up of nasty trash residue that can get stinky and annoying to keep around your home.

One Lubbock business is aiming to help fix that problem by offering a trash bin cleaning service.

Fresh Bin is offering an ‘eco friendly’ quarterly, monthly, or bi-monthly service to come to your home and clean, sanitize, disinfect, and deodorize your trash bins. If you live in an area with bins instead of dumpsters, you might’ve seen signs from this company near your mailbox or somewhere else.

While it can be easy to simply wash your bins on your own with a hose and some detergent, this can also be a good option for those that can’t be bothered to do it themselves.
