Why Is Lubbock’s Jaguars Club Now A Pile of Rubble?

A familiar business (for some more than others) in Lubbock is currently a pile of rubble on the side of the highway. When I heard about Jaguars Club (12913 US HWY 87) being torn down, I had to go see for myself.
The above photo was taken from my car, as they were actively working on the site and I didn't want to bother anyone or endanger myself by entering a demolition site like a dummy.
Jaguars Club was many Lubbockite's first "gentleman's club" experience. It certainly was mine. As a woman, of course, I had friends that thought it would be hilarious to buy me a lap dance. The jokes on them, I had a great time.
Jaguars Club has featured many beautiful women, including many touring adult film stars. It served as a rite of passage for many. And while it may not have been everyone's cup of tea, it was a nice and friendly place to see dancers.
So, why is it being torn down?
As one Lubbock Redditor stated:
They are opening up a new building closer to Slaton. The DOT bought the land for an interchange with the new loop 88.
While I can't independently verify this yet, it makes sense, as you can see from Loop 88 project maps. I hope this person is right about the rebuilding, as the owners and operators are such nice people.
The old building was just that- old- and had some issues so this potential rebuild will likely see huge improvements.
Good luck to all the girls and to "Jags".
