Texas Ranks High In Deaths By Animals, The Most Deadly Will Surprise You
I absolutely adore animals. For me, getting to live on a planet that I share with these amazing creatures is one of the best things about being alive. And I appreciate that my home state of Texas has many different habitats, meaning we have a wide variety of animals.
However, not every animal is cute and cuddly all the time. In fact, many animals can be dangerous or even deadly to humans. It seems that Texas animals are particularly dangerous- as we have ranked #1 for the risk of being killed by an animal. From 1999 to 2019, 520 Texans died due to animals, which sounds like a lot until you realize that's only 26 people are year. Really, you're risk of dying because of an animal is quite low, even in our particularly "deadly" state.
Of course, how we choose to interact with these critters has a large part to play in our outcome. Respecting wildlife, training pets properly, and using common sense are key.
Here's a look at the most deadly animals in Texas- and the animal that causes the most deaths may surprise you.
