My parents have started having special day dates with each other (so precious!), with my Dad taking my Mom on the nice, easy drive to Slaton for Smokin Dicks BBQ and a trip to the historic Slaton Bakery (109 S 9th St), too. In the bakery case today was a very sweet tribute to Dolly Parton.

Slaton Bakery's Sweet Tribute To Dolly Parton

In the case, my parents spotted some lovely printed and hand-lettered cookies in honor of Dolly, of course in pink. I know the bakery had some other designs too, but may have sold out of them already. I think this is a lovely tribute from a universally loved business in honor of a universally loved human being. Also, can we talk about how good those donuts look?

The Pudding Festival Is Right Around the Corner

Lucky for Mom, she's going right back out to Slaton on September 5th, this time with me for the Banana Pudding Festival. The event is free to attend, but I highly recommend you purchase a Puddin Pass so you can try this year's 4 banana pudding flavors. Each pudding serving is 5 oz for a total of 20oz of pudding, which is a hefty amount, so you could possibly share a pass, but no one is expecting you to. These can and have sold out prior to the event, so if you know you want to go, I'd hop on that.

Beyond maple pudding portions, the festival has vendors, live music, and absolutely fantastic small-town vibes. I really love it and look forward to it every year.
