Could Bigfoot Be Lurking in Lubbock’s Hidden Woods?
Lubbock has a few wooded areas where Bigfoot might hang out.
Lubbock isn’t exactly the Pacific Northwest, but it does have a few surprisingly wooded areas where something big and hairy could lurk. That idea becomes a little more chilling after reading Devolution: A Firsthand Account Of The Rainier Sasquatch Massacre by Max Brooks — a gripping horror novel where an isolated eco-community gets wiped out by intelligent, brutal Bigfoot creatures. The thought of that kind of raw power and cunning in a hidden predator is genuinely terrifying.
Like many monster-loving kids, I was once spellbound by The Legend of Boggy Creek. Back then, it didn’t seem far-fetched at all. These days, I think the ocean probably hides more unknown horrors than the land does… but I wouldn’t rule anything out.
There have been so many sightings that entire interactive maps now track reports across the country — from actual encounters to just footprints. If you ever did manage to capture real Bigfoot footage, you could probably retire on the payday. Sadly, the only confirmed Sasquatch so far is the Jack Link’s mascot (and yeah, that’s just an actor in a suit).
If you spot something strange, you can log it at bigfootmap.com — and fun fact: there’s even been a report of possible Bigfoot tracks near Lubbock, along the Yellowhouse River off Kent Street, not far from Hillcrest Country Club.
