It all starts with a simple question, are there more accidents at, on, or near the Marsha Sharp Freeway?

Here's Where Suspicions Arose.

I am part of Lubbock Alert. It's handy and they keep you up to speed on things. Truth be told, sometimes they're a little too diligent and free with the updates, but it makes the ones that affect you worthwhile. I received an update Sunday about yet another accident on or near the Marsha Sharp Freeway

It's Not 100% Clear If It's True.

There does not seem to be any real-time statistics on crash locations. There are some older reports and one of the most dangerous intersections is listed as the eastbound frontage road of the Marsha Sharp Freeway and the northbound frontage road of I-27. Again, that stat is for the intersection and not necessarily the freeway itself.

It Would Make Sense And Then Again No.

The Marsha Sharp Freeway has only been open since 2018. One would tend to think since it didn't exist that long ago that it would help solve some traffic problems, but it also seems to be much busier than Interstate 27 or Loop 289. I would also think the relative "newness" might lead to people being confused about where to get on and get off and cause some mistakes.

Watch Yourself Everywhere You Go.

I'm going to put this as kindly as I can. I just drove the major freeways of Los Angeles again over the holidays and I had one overwhelming thought and that was, "This is insanity, but everyone seems to know what they're doing, whereas, in Lubbock, most drive like it's their first day behind the wheel". My apologies if there is a little too much truth in that statement. In short, be safe on the roads and highways in Lubbock and you may want to be extra safe on, or anywhere near, the Marsha Sharp Freeway.
