Lubbock’s 14th annual Hub City BBQ Cook-off was in full swing this year in downtown Lubbock with 110 teams competing for 17 prizes.

Downtown Lubbock was alive with music, food, drinks and laughter as hundreds congregated around dozens of smokers and grills. Live music was provided by the Dix Hat Band and the School of Rock.

Among the amateur/student category, the Lubbock Professional Firefighters Association took first in ribs and Sonic Team #2 took first in Brisket. Lone Star State Bank took first in the corporate category of Brisket and Miller Lite took first in Ribs.

WesTech Electric had a strong showing this year; they claimed third in the professional ribs category as well as the alternative category with their hatch-green-chile and muenster-Cheese-stuffed pork tenderloin.

Craig Hall, owner of WesTech Electric, said his favorite thing to cook is ribs, brisket and chicken and appreciated the chance to interact with everyone and grill with his friends.

The event was hosted by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.
