Health Department To Open Vaccine Clinic at the South Plains Mall
Coronavirus cases are spiking in Lubbock and hospital numbers are increasing. Due to the Delta variant of COVID-19, the number of people seeking a vaccine is also beginning to rise and that's why the City of Lubbock Health Department is setting up a new clinic.
The Lubbock Health Department will open the new vaccination clinic on Thursday, August 12 at the South Plains Mall. According to a press release from the City of Lubbock, the clinic will be inside the South Plains Mall at storefront D-06. The closest entrance to the vaccine clinic is the main entrance near Barnes and Noble.
The Lubbock Health Department vaccine clinic will operate Thursday through Sunday noon to close at the South Plains Mall. Those wanting to get the vaccine will receive the Pfizer vaccine. The vaccination clinic will operate until further notice according to the Lubbock Health Department.
No appointment is necessary for the Lubbock Health Department vaccine clinic and no timetable has been released as far as how long they will continue to operate at the mall. The Health Department has said before they are attempting to get out into the community more and more and to go where the people are in order to help get vaccines to as many people as possible.
This week the City of Lubbock also announced a new free COVID-19 testing area at the Clapp Park Pool located at 4500 Avenue U. The free testing site is open Noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
