The body of a young girl that was originally reported missing in early January of this year will be laid to rest this week.

Leah Marie Aguirre was killed by blunt force trauma to the head, and was found by FBI investigators at the home of her caretaker, Matilda Alvarez. Aguirre’s body was hidden in her basement on a shelf, wrapped in plastic, underneath a pile of clothes.

A graveside funeral service for the 2-year-old Aguirre will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton.

Alvarez is in police custody on a Capital Murder charge.
