Candlelight on the Ranch, A Great Tradition, Returns This Weekend

A great Christmas time tradition returns this weekend in Lubbock at the National Ranching Heritage Center. Candlelight on the Ranch, a two night event that is celebrating its 47th anniversary this week.

What Is The Candlelight on the Ranch Event?

If you haven't been to a Candlelight at the Ranch, you are really missing out. The entire event is about celebrating a frontier Christmas. The pathways, scenes, and even the structures themselves are lit as much as possible with lanterns, fireplaces, and campfires. Some of the structures were actually built when electricity was more accessible so you may see some lights in those buildings.

Candlelight on the Ranch is held at the National Ranching Heritage Center from 6:30-9:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The event is free, but a suggested donation of $5 is always welcome.

Visitors will be able to see 15 historic buildings including the 1838 El Capote Log Cabin to the 1909 Barton House. Those structures are brought to life with lights, festive scenes, music, and more.

Where To Park?

Candlelight at the Ranch is so popular it can sometimes be hard to park. According to their website there is a free shuttle service that will be running on both nights.

There will be a free shuttle service for attendees parking in the event’s satellite lot starting at 6:15 pm.  This parking area, located at the north side of UMC Medical Center at 5th Street and Joliet Avenue, will be serviced by Citibus.  The buses will deliver visitors to the front entrance of the National Ranching Heritage Center and loop back to the UMC parking lot throughout each evening.
