A former Texas Tech track star won Silver in London on Friday night.

Former All-American Sally Kipyego set a personal best in the distance with a time of 30 minutes and 26.37 seconds to win the Silver Medal for her country of Kenya in the 10,000 meter race on the first day of track and field events in the 2012 Olympic games.

Ehtiopia’s Tirunesh Dibaba  came back in the race to claim the Gold for the second straight Olympic games.

Vivian Cheruiyot of Kenya won bronze behind Kipyego. Kipyego will have another chance for Olympic Gold in the 5,000 meter race this weekend.
