A former Lubbock man pleaded guilty today to a charge of possessing child pornography.

25 year-old Miles Robert Flinn pleaded guilty before Judge Sam Cummings in federal court in Lubbock Thursday morning. Flinn was found to be in possession of the child pornography while he lived in Lubbock in July of 2011.

Flinn faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.

Flinn used a file-sharing program on his computer in his residence to download images and videos from the internet, including child pornography.

Flinn was found to be in possession of the child pornography on his computer hard drive on July 26, 2011.

Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 combats child exploitation and abuse, brought the matter forward to the authorities.

U.S. Immigration and Customs, Homeland Security Investigations and the Lubbock Police Department investigated the case while U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy is in charge of the prosecution.
