Food trucks in the City of Lubbock are one step closer to being able to set up in local parks.

Thursday night, the Lubbock City Council voted 6-0 to allow local food trucks to set up in Lubbock parks. Of course, it must have a second vote prior to becoming the law in Lubbock.

Members of the community, as well as the food truck community, have been in favor of this for a while. However, there would be restrictions, such as not setting up at parks adjacent to residential areas, and food truck owners must pay a $250 a year fee to set up in park areas.

I, for one, am excited about these possible changes.
