The 29th Annual Feed a Friend...It's as Easy as Pie fundraiser benefitting Lubbock Meals on Wheels is coming up on it's final weekend.

The Easy as Pie fundraiser began on November 13 and will wrap up on Sunday, November 22. Lubbock Meals on Wheels is hoping to raise at least $80,000 this year. Since the fundraiser began 29 years ago, Lubbock Meals on Wheels has partnered with United Supermarkets.

Here's how it works, when you shop at United Supermarkets, Amigos, or Market Street, for a $5 dollar donation you will receive a coupon for a free Mrs. Smith's pie. For every $5 you donate, you get a coupon for a pie. You can choose from pumpkin, apple, Dutch apple, peach, cherry, and very berry flavors.

According to Lubbock Meals on Wheels, this is their second largest fundraiser of the year. Lubbock Meals on Wheels continues to grow each in Lubbock while adding people onto their service. According to a press release, Lubbock Meals on Wheels serves over 860 people each day.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels prepares and delivers hot, nutritious meals to over 860 homebound, elderly, and disabled people each weekday, totaling over 219,000 meals annually. We help people remain at home, well fed, and independent. LMOW depends solely on the Lubbock community for financial support. We receive no government funding and we are not a United Way agency. Over 1,600 volunteers and 16 staff members carry out the mission of Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

In order to donate and get a pie, just let the cashier know you'd like to donate when checking out.
