Family Gets Eaten Up By ‘Lake Lice’ at Popular Texas Lake
I've never been to Lake Mineral Wells, but it seems to get mostly positive reviews. However, after seeing this poor family get eaten up by "lake lice," I would probably think twice before getting in the water. Ewww.
So WHAT is this, exactly? Sea lice, found in oceans, is the larvae of jellyfish.
Since this isn't salt water or anywhere near the coast, it's probably the larvae of some other type of aquatic critter.
Here is Lake Mineral Wells' theory on the organism, and some good news that the infestation was probably hyper-localized:
It's possible that since these individuals are family, they may have shared an allergy that led to the itching symptoms. So maybe I can enjoy my next trip to a Texas lake.
