Summer means tons of fun in the sun which includes vacation, late nights, and swimming but staying safe while you swim is one thing everyone should learn at a young age. University Medical Center Children's Hospital in partnership with Texas Tech Physicians is hosting the third annual UMC Children's Water Safety Event.

This event will focus on water safety training for parents and children of all ages in the case of an emergency situation involving water. Since the start of the Annual Water Safety Event the Community Outreach Specialist, Erica Allen, states that there has been a major decline in pediatric drowning in the Lubbock area. UMC EMS and Lubbock Fire and Rescue's Dive Team will also be at the event to help in CPR training and to give First Responder Truck tours.

This event is free of charge at Water Rampage and aside from safety training will also offer those attending limited access to the park until they reach capacity. There will also be giveaways, life jacket fittings, and plenty of other activities. Those life jackets will be free for all children that attend, while supplies last, and they will be properly fitted so that they can stay safe in case of water related emergency.

This Water Safety event will be Saturday, June 10, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. no outside food or drinks will be permitted inside of the park but coolers are welcome and will be inspected upon arrival, this event is free to the public
