‘Emo Beto’ Is in a Funk: Chad Hasty’s Take on O’Rourke’s Self-Discovery Road Trip [LISTEN]
Emo - noun, adjective (ˈē-mō):
A style of rock music influenced by punk rock and featuring introspective and emotionally fraught lyrics. (Merriam-Webster.com)
A fan of emo, especially a person who is overly sensitive and full of angst or adopts a certain style characterized by dyed black hair, tight t-shirts and jeans, etc. (Dictionary.com)
Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, Hasty expounded and satirized around recent reports about Beto O'Rourke, who has described himself as being "in a funk." O'Rourke is harboring uncertainty about what to do after his election loss to Ted Cruz, while pondering a possible run for the White House, and is taking a road trip to regroup and connect with people. O'Rourke is sharing his ruminations periodically on the Medium.com website.
Hasty, referring to O'Rourke as "Emo Beto", described the trip as he sees it taking place, and ad-libbed his take on O'Rourke's fictional diary entries being made as he tours on his road trip.
While explaining the excursion (as he sees it), Hasty said,
He's just trying to find himself. Get out on the road, grow a beard...Find out who America really is. Find out if America really needs a constitution or not.
