A cotton warehouse in East Lubbock caught fire early Tuesday morning.

Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to the blaze at around 3:21 a.m., after a nearby watchman saw flames coming from the roof of the warehouse in the 1200 block of East 40th Street.

KAMC News reports that LP&L was also called to the scene to ensure that no live power lines were affected. Fortunately, no one has been injured in the fire.

Firefighters are asking the public to avoid the area of East 40th and Locust Avenue today.

Earlier in 2018, Lubbock firefighters fought similar fires at several cotton warehouses due to extreme drought.
