On Monday, Dr. Thomas Michael Dixon, from Amarillo, was released from the Lubbock County Jail.

Dixon posted a $2 million dollar bond to be released to the Amarillo area in advance of a re-trial on a capital murder charge. Dixon was convicted in 2018 of hiring hit-man David Shepard to kill Lubbock pathologist Dr. Joseph Sonnier in 2012.

However, an appeals court recently threw out Dixon’s conviction due to how cell phone evidence was collected without a warrant.

KAMC News reports that Dixon’s release is subject to a list of strict conditions that must be maintained, such as a curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. Dixon must also wear a tracking device at all times and cannot leave Randall or Potter County.
