I'm an impatient donut fan, and I approve this message.

We know good things come to those who wait. However, it appears that the wait is almost over for donut fans in Northwest Lubbock, as the signs are now up at the soon-to-open Shipley Donuts location on 19th Street and West Loop 289.

After creeping through the parking lot at 5:30am, and only attracting passing curious glances, we observed that this 2nd Shipley outlet in Lubbock is closer than ever to throwing the doors open. In fact, even thought the drive thru speaker box is not yet installed, the menu is already affixed to the wall of the building near the drive-thru window, giving us a sneak peek at the donut and kolache choices that are in store.

It's been over 2 years since we first reported on the opening of Shipley's first West Texas location on University Avenue, and almost as long since we observed that they were planning this second outlet.

Ultimately, it has been reported that the plan for Shipley is to open a total of 7 of the Houston-based stores around the Hub City, with no additional locations announced as of yet.

The only question surrounding this new locale, in our opinion, is the increase in traffic that will inevitably accompany the grand opening. As it stands, traffic already gets quite congested leading up 19th near the recently opened Dutch Bros drive thru, so let's hope that the horde of hungry donut fanatics doesn't create a delicious glaze of crashes over kolaches.
