Ford never took any bailout money even though they could have. The move not to take money from the government was seen in a very positive light and Ford's sales actually increased in part I'm sure, because of it. The move to say no to the government was so popular that Ford wanted to make a commercial out of it. In the commercial a man gave a testimonial about why he bought Ford and in his reasoning was the bailout issue. It was a great commercial but suddenly, it was gone.

Why? That's the question one Congressman is asking. According to the Hill:

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said in a letter to the Ford Motor Company on Thursday that he was "deeply concerned about undue political pressure exerted by the White House."

The House Oversight Committee chairman's letter comes on the heels of reports earlier this week that the company had pulled an ad critical of the auto bailout following a phone call with administration officials.

Ford has denied that political pressure was the reason. What do you think? Do you think the White House put pressure on Ford to do away with the commercial?
