Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. Democrats want more spending! (link)

Because the government is spending enough money, Democratic leaders want to spend more! That's right, Democratic leaders are urging the White House to boost spending in order to fix the economy. They are calling for another stimulus and believe that will fix everything. Yeah... that will work.

2. The Postal Service is in really big trouble (link )

The United States Postal Service is in trouble. We've known this for a while, but more proof is out there now. According to the Austin American Statesman:
The financially troubled Postal Service is suspending its contributions to its employees' pension fund.

The agency said Wednesday it is acting to conserve cash as it continues to lose money. The post office was $8 billion in the red last year because of the combined effects of the recession and the switch of much mail business to the Internet. It faces the possibility of running short of money by the end of this fiscal year in September.

Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., called the announcement "the canary in the coal mine moment for the Postal Service."

"If we don't heed this warning and act quickly, the Postal Service as we know it will cease to exist in the very near future," said Carper, chairman of the Senate subcommittee with jurisdiction over the agency.

What should be done about the USPS? Shut it down? Can we get by without mail service?

3. Latinos lag behind in College education (link)

According to the Texas Tribune, Latinos lag behind when it comes to completing college.

Only 16 percent of Latino adults have an associate's degree or higher — compared to 33 percent of the total working-aged population in Texas, according to a report by Excelencia in Education, a Washington D.C-based non-profit organization focused on boosting Latino success in higher education. The national average is 38 percent.

So why is this, and do we need more programs at our Universities to encourage people not to drop out? We will talk about these questions on the show on Thursday. What do you think?
