A political debate between the two candidates for Texas Governor has been scheduled for the fall.

The debate will be between Republican nominee and current Governor, Greg Abbott, and his democrat opponent, Lupe Valdez. A location for the debate has yet to be announced, but the debate is scheduled to be held Friday, September 28th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Abbott spokesman Alejandro Treviño has released a statement regarding the debate, saying, "A statewide debate that allows voters to hear directly from candidates on what they believe is essential to the democratic process, and Governor Abbott looks forward to this opportunity to share his vision for the future of Texas."

Lupe Valdez' posted on Twitter her own reaction to the debate invitation:

KAMC News reports that the debate will be aired and live streamed on 12 Texas stations owned by Nexstar Media Group, the parent company of KAMC News and KLBK.
